Inside Our Design Notebook (R & D)
Inside the Notebook: Building Gen 2 from the Field
January 2nd, 2026
Refining the Mission At Sophroneo Rescue, we believe gear is never truly "finished." It’s an ongoing conversation between the design table and the operators doing the work. After launching our first packs, we went back to the table to listen to the feedback coming in from the field.
Gen 2 Development: We are currently in the development phase of the Gen 2 Pack. This isn't about making changes for the sake of change; it’s about purposeful refinement.
-
Upgraded Hardware: We are moving to larger zippers (A huge thank you to Marty in Idaho and many others for the feedback on zipper sizing!)
-
Modular Side Wings: We are testing "rib cage" wing extensions to shift gear like radios or bear spray off the front chest and toward the side. These wings will be modular, using standard PALS/MOLLE spacing to fit the pouches you already own.
-
Weight & Positioning: We’re refining the harness to improve weight distribution and side-wing placement, reducing the front load for better balance.
The Color Palette: We’ve heard the requests for more variety to match your environment and your agency requirements. For Gen 2, we are working to bring you four core colors:
-
OD Green & Coyote Brown (for the backcountry and tactical use)
-
Stealth Black (for a clean, professional look)
-
Rescue Red (for high-visibility and emergency service needs)
The Modular Ecosystem The next leap forward is our upcoming line of internal inserts. We’re building a system of mission-specific tool loops, secure organizers, and even labeled patches that allow you to customize your "base" for your mission set.
Your Feedback, Our Blueprint Every update we make is driven by the people carrying our packs. We aren't building what we think is best—we are seeking to build what you told us you need. Our goal remains the same: providing that "Sophroneo" soundness of mind that comes from knowing your essential gear is secure and quickly accessible.
Note: These Gen 2 concepts are still in the notebook and prototyping phase. Our current packs are the proven standard, built for the mission today.
Stay tuned.
