Sophroneo (So-Fro-Neh-Oh) is a Greek word (σωφρονέω) that embodies a mind that is rescued, revived, and freed from irrational fear and thoughts, and is now safe, sound, and prepared to overcome any obstacle.

Inspired by the rugged Rocky Mountains and the resilient spirit they represent, Sophroneo Rescue Co. is a family-owned business founded in Southwest Colorado and now based in Nebraska. Our beginnings in the unfamiliar mountainous desert Southwest called for greater resilience and endurance, inspiring us to create quality outdoor gear.

Guided by insights from former Military, Police Officers, Firefighter/Paramedic Specialists, and Disaster Response Specialists—and now backed by field-tested testimonies from real-world missions—our chest packs are trusted by professional Search and Rescue teams. For the price the features and quality that Sophroneo offers with this chest pack is hard to beat.

BLUF: At this price point you will be hard pressed to find a better quality chest pack with the materials used, craftmanship, and the features that come with it.
Having retired from a career in the fire service with a specialization in USAR and Wildland fire fighting I used a chest pack on multiple incidents over the years. I state this because the chest packs that we were issued were significantly more expensive than the packs that Sophroneo offers. That being said when I went looking for a chest pack that would be primarily for personal use and paid for out of my own pocket, budget was a part of the factors making my decision. So while doing my research I appreciated the price point and a lot of the features that The Wilderness Chest Pack offered. I reached out to Sophroneo via email to ask a question about the Grimloc D-Rings shown on the pack (FYI it comes with 2) and received a reply promptly in 5hrs from the owner Mr.Hoffman. He provided fantastic customer service and made it easy for me to pull the trigger on the purchase. I ordered via their website and my order was at my door in 5 days. Now my primary use case these days is for hiking with my dog. So when I received the chest pack I was itching to throw my loadout together and get on the trails(so was my dog). I have since logged close to 100 miles with the pack on in the past 2 weeks. I am amazed at the quality and features that are offered for this price point. The fabric, zippers, buckles, stitching, and workmanship have held up very well over this short use period. I have the pack loaded out with med for myself and my dog, survival tools just in case, and other snivel gear. The flag tape grommet works perfect for dog poo bags FYI. I threw a FHF Gear Bear Spray Lite holster onto the bottom of the pack to allow more options into my use of force continuum in case I stumble upon some wildlife that may be cantankerous. Inside of the pack is a hook and loop strap that is provided that will secure a firearm if needed, however I have a kydex holster that has hook and loop to allow it to easily add into this pack. The number of attachment options on the interior and exterior of this pack are fantastic. The pack rides well and moves nicely with your body when walking or running. Bottomline: Pull the trigger on the purchase, you will not be disappointed.

Great Packs!

I have a few of these packs and I have to say they are well made, packed with the amount of pockets | storage and ready for whatever you throw at them. I am new to chest pack and loving the convinence of having quick access to my go to gear while out in the backcountry.

I was so impressed when I opened the box and took hold of the chest pack. I could tell right away that this was a quality pack and very well made! It will hold all my needs when traveling on an airplane, everything will be right up front and easy to access. I don’t have to to worry about things getting lost. Great way to keep it all organized. I’m anxious to use on our short hiking trips as well. I will be able to enjoy our adventures and be hands free of holding things or filling my pockets full of phones, keys, maps and first aid items. It’s a great product that I find very useful for many adventures. Thank you!
